About Gentium

Gentium can help you connect with people around the world, broaden your organisation’s horizons and put the foundations in place for your business growth in new territories.

Gareth Jarman, Founder and Director

Gentium International was set up by international HR consultant Gareth Jarman in 2018, following a long career living and working internationally. Gareth has lived and worked across a number of countries, including Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Singapore, India, UAE, Qatar, United Kingdom, United States, Canada and South Africa. Working in international roles has also ensured knowledge across other country locations across the EU –  Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal and Spain, for example.

Now based in the UK, Gareth founded Gentium to provide specialist support and expertise to companies wanting to fully harness the benefits of a global workplace. Gentium is founded on the principles of responsible and compliant employment practice, wherever that may be in the world.

Our founding principles

  • We deliver trusted HR insight and experience to enable you and your business

  • We build international relationships and connect people who can help

  • We facilitate and develop international trade and markets (see below).

Gareth Jarman, Founder and Director

“Inspired by international working with the many opportunities and challenges that it presents, I set up Gentium International to support clients both domestically and abroad to work through their employment considerations - from start-up to shut-down and everything in-between.

I am a true believer that good business practice is not just about knowledge and applying the law, but also about building trust. I have seen first-hand how strong working relationships can prevent negative outcomes for both employers and employees, alike.

I have spent much of my career living and working internationally, both in-house and as a consultant. Often being dropped in to manage scenarios and cases across the spectrum of HR, I have an appreciation of the importance of quick, pragmatic and commercial resolution.

Jurisdictions vary hugely in their complexity – recognising that, and understanding your surroundings, is the start to ensuring sound and sustainable employment practice.

Experience tells me that it is better to plan in advance and be conscious of your obligations on people-related matters, rather than manage the consequences later. Gentium fills that gap.”

Our people and partnerships

Gentium works with a range of experienced and likeminded professional consultants and affiliates around the globe. Our professional network enables breadth, depth and geographical reach. This gives us flexibility in how we work and enables us to provide quality and cost-effective services for our

clients, many of whom are already pushing the boundaries of new working practice themselves.

We are always looking for new partners, so if you’re interested in working with Gentium and think our values sound similar, please do get in touch.

Our professional network enables breadth, depth and geographical reach of service for our clients.

Our vision and values

We are a family company with big ambitions and strong values. Our vision is always to enable people and forward-looking organisations to operate internationally, compliantly, responsibly and positively.

Our values are strong and at the core of how we work with our clients and partners.

We are always:

  • Professional: in what we do, say and deliver

  • Respectful: in our treatment of others

  • International: in perspective, experience and practice

  • Knowledgeable: in content, delivery and how we develop our people

A sustainable approach

  • We leave a positive footprint: Gentium enables our clients by responsibly delivering in a way that leaves a positive footprint and connection, no matter where we are working or where our client is based. We are privately owned and not private equity backed, so our ownership allows us to grow in line with our values and service.

  • We value diversity and inclusiveness: Gentium is inspired by the world we live in and the connections that people make. Borders and legislation are there for governance, but they should not stop

progressive thinking, collaboration or harnessing potential. Advice from differing perspectives is invaluable.

  • We work flexibly and promote wellbeing: The world of work is changing. We encourage flexibility in how our company operates, working with likeminded individuals and organisations who will promote flexibility and wellbeing as part of a balanced life. We believe that apart from promoting a healthy life, the benefits of efficiency, creativity and quality will also be reflected in output.
